      Each Mid-Autumn, Tai Hang comes alive as the iconic Fire Dragon Dance parades through the streets. Tracing its roots to the 19th century, when residents united to perform the ritual dance against a plague, this tradition lives on through the community’s unwavering spirit. A recognised National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the 67-metre fire dragon made of incense sticks will be led by 300 performers, continuing to draw crowds to witness this neighbourhood’s cherished, time-honoured custom in Hong Kong.

      The Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races made a triumphant return to Victoria Harbour in June every year. Both locals and visitors once again experienced the dynamic spectacle of this major sporting event in the birthplace of modern dragon boat racing. Thousands of dragon boat athletes from around the world competed in the iconic waters off Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade, racing their colourful boats to the thunderous beat of traditional drums.

      The Mid-Autumn Festival is a vibrant celebration rich in Chinese traditions and folk culture. Apart from the spectacular lantern displays at the Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnivals, there will be stage performances by arts groups from Mainland China as well as elements of intangible cultural heritage, such as traditional lantern displays, fire dragon dances, and folk craft demonstrations from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, showcasing the charm of Chinese culture and the festival.
